22 latest deaths including seven BID cases

KUCHING: Sarawak recorded 22 Covid-19 deaths, mostly comprising elderly people with comorbid diseases on Wednesday (Oct 6).

Twenty of the deaths occurred between Oct 2 and 5 while one occurred on June 12 and another on September 28. Out of 22 fatalities, seven were brought-in dead (BID) cases.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said the oldest fatality was 91years old whilst the youngest was 38.

“A 91-year-old man from Miri was among the oldest fatalities, who passed away at Miri Hospital. There was no known history of comorbid disease however he needed assistance in his daily life.

“The youngest fatality involved a 38-year-old man from Bintulu who was brought in dead to Bintulu Hospital.

There were three fatalities aged below 60, including a BID case to Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) involving a 57-year-old man from Kuching on Sept 28 with no history of comorbid disease.

On Oct 2, another BID case involved a 50-year-old man from Kapit and his body was brought in to Kapit Hospital. He had high blood pressure and dyslipidaemia.

“On Oct 4, a 55-year-old woman from Bintulu with history of high blood pressure and obesity passed away at Bintulu Hospital,” added SDMC.

On other matter, SDMC declared the implementation of enhanced movement control order (EMCO) at 11 localities in six districts.

EMCO was enforced at Rumah Daniel Anak Mungking, Kuala Annau in Tatau, Rumah Elbert Anak Mejang at Sungai Stam Rasan, Rumah Mabong Anak Juwat at Sungai Stam Rasan and Rumah Buli Anak Eyaleng at Sungai Kelabai in Tabau, Sebauh from Oct 4 until Oct 13.

From Oct 6 until Oct 15, the EMCO is enforced at Rumah Dundang, Kandis at Engkilili, Rumah Mulok, Kujoh at Skrang and Rumah Buma, Entalun at Skrang in Lubok Antu, Rumah Kudan, Enchiap Atas, Pantu in Sri Aman, Rumah Kedit, Sungai Buloh at Ulu Kemalih and Rumah Lima, Munggu Jikang, Batu 17 at Jalan KJD in Julau and Rumah Tindin, Nanga Dayu at Pakan.

Meanwhile, the EMCO has ended at 16 localities in eight districts on Oct 5 and yesterday (Oct 6).

SDMC has also extended the period of EMCO at Rumah Rokayah, Melanjan in Betong from Oct 6 until Oct 16.
