SIBU: Some 2,500 members of component parties of Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) yesterday attended the launching of GPS Sibu Zone 9.
The GPS members arrived as early as 8am at Sibu Civic Centre to show their support for Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg, who officiated at the event.
GPS Sibu Zone 9 comprises Bawang Assan, Nangka, Bukit Assek, Pelawan and Dudong areas.
The chief minister was accompanied by Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, PRS president Tan Sri James Jemut Masing, president of SUPP Datuk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian and president of PDP Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing.
Education, Science and Technological Research Assistant Minister Dr Annuar Rapaee was also present.
After the launch, Abang Johari proceeded to Sibu Central Market for a walkabout.
