300 RMR units for Sungai Bedaun Resettlement

SANTUBONG: 300 units of Rumah Mesra Rakyat (RMR) will be developed at the new Sungai Bedaun Resettlement here. Each uni t , cos t ing about RM68,000, will have an area of 10 to 12 points. The resettlement is built mainly for low-income extended families involved in the Darulhana Development programme.

“Even so, these RMR units will be developed using a more modern approach and the houses will be orderly. “There are a total of 195 acres of land here in Sungai Bedaun but only 43 acres will be used for this project.

“Construction of the houses will be undertaken by the Ministry of Rural and Regional Development (KKLW) while the state government will be undertaking the development of infrastructure in Sungai Bedaun, which includes roads and utilities,” Chief Minister, Datuk Patinggi (Dr) Abang Johari Tun Openg said when interviewed during his visit to the site of resettlement here yesterday.

He explained that the resettlement would for villagers originating from Kampung Pulo, Kampung Semarang and Kampung Panglima Seman. Johari said that the project would be completed within two years. General Manager of the Land Cus tody and Development Authority (PELITA), Datu Sejali Kipli said that the project might start in the second quarter of 2018.

“This project will be carried out in two phases and as the Chief Minister mentioned earlier, PELITA will be responsible for the construction of infrastructure in the resettlement including the Surau and Town Hall. Prior to the interview, Sejali briefed Johari, Minister of KKLW, Dato’ Sri Ismail Sabri Yaakob, Deputy Chief Minister, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Minister of KKLW, Datuk Alexander Nanta Linggi, Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, Datuk Seri Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar and Assistant Minister of Rural Electricity, Dr. Abdul Rahman Junaidi.
