31 Miri city councillors reappointed

MIRI: Thirty-one councillors were sworn in on Wednesday (July 13) before Mayor Adam Yii Siew Sang following their reappointments.

They will be in office from July 1 to Dec 31. The councillors are Warziedea Ahmad, Karambir Singh, Abdullah Zaini, Morshidi Fredrick (city council secretary) Julaihi Mohamad (deputy mayor), Peter Chia Chuau Khiong, Leong Chin Lim, Chin Fook Kim, Kueh Chie Tiong, Dominic Nyurang Ajang, Bhagwan Singh, Chan Chai Ping, Supang Pu’un, Dominica Lucia Tingang, Misiah Abdullah, Joanna Ping Eng Oyok, Yap Siew Jin, Rantai Achin, David Stephen, John Trawe, Ernest Goh Khiok Seng, Toh Kah Shiong, Arther Tiong Bing Chong, Leslie Lau Ik Chie, Mohamad Sardon Zainal, Jeffery Phang Siaw Foong, Tan Lek Jin, Romulus Charles Agan Raja, Bonie Aling and Rexsoll Gilum.

Yii thanked the Sarawak government, especially Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Premier Dauk Seri Dr Sim Kui Hian, for the re-appointments.

“We would like to reaffirm our pledge to serve faithfully and professionally and discharge our duties with diligence and dedication towards realising the council’s vision of a Smart, Green, Vibrant and Most Liveable Resort City,” he added.

On that note, Yii said councillors should equip and prepare themselves for the many and tough challenges ahead as the city slowly but surely gets back on its feet as Sarawak enters endemic phase of Covid-19.
