KUCHING: Heavy downpours since early this morning have resulted in the inundation of six houses in Kampung Rantau Panjang here, under floodwaters reaching depths of four feet.

The Civil Defence Force (APM) Kuching swiftly responded to the situation and dispatched a team to monitor the flood-prone area.

Despite the challenging conditions, the main road remains accessible to vehicles, albeit with caution, while the low-lying areas have been significantly impacted, with water levels reaching four feet.

Among the affected are the 43 residents residing in six houses along Lorong 1, where floodwaters have penetrated to depths of three feet within their homes.

Meanwhile in Kampung Sinar Budi Baru, there is a glimmer of relief as the APM team has reported the receding of water levels.

This showed that the situation is gradually coming under control and the roads within the village are deemed passable by vehicles.

As of the latest update, no evacuation process has been initiated, though authorities remain vigilant amidst the ongoing weather conditions.
