MUKAH: Approximately 500 containers of spicy porridge were distributed to residents in and around the town at the Setia Raja Mosque, here, today.

The spicy porridge distribution programme was organised by the Setia Raja Mosque under the Helwa Bureau Committee, assisted by the Islamic Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (PERKIM) and Urusetia Saudara Kita (USK).

Chairwoman of the Helwa Bureau Hanidah Baijuri said they started making this spicy porridge at 8.30 am.

“This is because the ingredients to make the spicy porridge were prepared the day before the programme was held.

“On the day of the programme, we only made spicy porridge and distributed it to the members of the mosque after the Zohor prayer and the people around here who passed by the road in front of the mosque,” she told Suara Sarawak.

Accordingly, she also distributed it to the villages to be more fair and equal.

‘Since the Muslim community here is large and some of them do not have vehicles, we took the initiative so that we can savour it together.

“Alhamdulillah, the response is very encouraging from the public and God willing, programmes like this will continue to be held next year,” she explained.

She revealed that this year is the third time she has held such a programme, adding that the local residents are welcomed to break their fast together at Setia Raja Mukah Mosque throughout Ramadan.
