BINTULU: The first batch of 60 frontliners in Selangau district has received the first dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Monday (Mar 1).

The inoculation exercise under the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme was led by Selangau District Officer Inting Nyami.

The frontliners who received their first jab today (March 1) comprised healthcare workers, police officers and members of the People’s Volunteer Corps (Rela), the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) as well as the Selangau District Office.

The second dose would be administered to them on March 22.

The vaccination programme took place at Selangau Multipurpose Hall here, and it would be carried out in stages to cover the population within the area.

Meanwhile, Inting, when met later after receiving his jab on Monday, has called on the public to not be easily influenced by any misconception or propaganda on the vaccines on social media.

“Do not worry. I have received the injection and was monitored for about 30 minutes, and I am fine. Therefore, I called on the community in Selangau to get vaccinated,” he said.
