610 COVID-19 cases in EPID Week 17

KUCHING: Sarawak has recorded a total of 610 COVID-19 cases in the 17th epidemiology (EPID) Week, from April 24 to 30.

The number of cases have dropped significantly as compared to 937 cases in the EPID Week 16, from April 17 to 23.

Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) in its weekly COVID-19 update said that with the new cases, this brings the cumulative COVID-19 cases in the state until today to 305,318.

A total of 506 cases out of the 610 cases reported last week were in category one and two, while four cases were in category three, four, and five.

The committee said Kuching recorded the highest number of cases at 186, followed by Miri (74), Bintulu (94), Sibu (77), Samarahan (38), Serian (18), Limbang (15), Mukah (10).

Meanwhile six cases were reported in Sarikei, Sri Aman (nine), Asajaya (five), Bau (seven), Subis (six), Betong (seven), Pusa (one), Simunjan (eight), Lubok Antu (four), Kanowit (two), Dalat (two), Matu (five), Lundu (three), Julau (six), Kapit (four), Saratok (four), Selangau (one), Lawas (three), Pakan (two), Kabong (three), Tebedu (three), Tatau (two), Sebauh (one), and Meradong (four).

In the EPID Week 16, SDMC said 924 out of the 937 cases were in category one, while 13 cases were in category three, four, and five.

It added during the same period, Kuching recorded with 255 cases, followed by Miri (152), Bintulu (136), Sibu (103), Samarahan (46), Serian (28), Limbang (18), Mukah (17), and 15 cases each in Sarikei, Sri Aman, and Asajaya.

Meanwhile, 14 cases were reported in Bau, Subis (12), Betong (nine), Pusa (nine), Simunjan (eight), Lubok Antu (eight), Kanowit (seven), Dalat (seven), Matu (six), Lundu (five), Daro (five), Julau (five), Kapit (four), Saratok (four), Selangau (four), Lawas (four), Pakan (four), Kabong (three), Tebedu (three), Tatau (three), Beluru (three), Sebauh (three), Marudi (two), Meradong (two), Telang Usan (two), and Belaga (one).

The committee also said one COVID-19 death in Kuching was reported in the EPID Week 17, while five deaths were reported during the EPID Week 16.
