KUCHING: A large crowd converged at the premises of Bank Rakyat Satok branch to indulge on free, all-you-can-eat, durian buffet yesterday morning.

The ‘Jom Makan Durian’ programme was the first of its kind to be organised by Bank Rakyat in Sarawak. The event kicked-off at 9.30am and was over within one hour as a crowd of over 300 feasted on some 1000 durian fruits in front of the bank.

Besides durians, other local fruits such as rambutan and langsat were also served during the programme. Condiments including sago and crackers were prepared to compliment the king of fruits as well.

The durians were brought in from the mountainous areas of Serian which gave them unique characteristics and were especially soft, succulent, and very fragrant.

Bank Rakyat director for Sabah and Sarawak Mohamad Shiblie Abang Sapuan said, the programme was held as a sign of gratitude towards loyal customers and stakeholders of the bank.
