KUCHING: A married couple was gagged, blind-folded, bound and robbed by four masked men of their jewellery and mobile phone early yesterday Saturday morning.

The men also drove off in both the couple’s cars, said Padawan district police chief Supt Aidil Bolhassan.

Supt Aidil said in the 5am incident, the four masked men gained entry into the couple’s double storey home at Taman Lotak Wira, Jalan Stephen Yong through the upper floor toilet window by using an old grill as their makeshift ladder and smashing open the bedroom door with a empty gas cylinder.

He said the couple, in their 30s, had just moved in to their house for the past two weeks following completion of the renovation works at their property.

Then the intruders proceeded to gag the couple and tie their hands and feet using a nylon string they brought with them.

According to Supt Aidil, the robbers tried to get the woman to tell them where their valuables were kept.

However, the woman was of no help to the robbers because she couldn’t understand the language the robbers used.

“Initial investigation at the scene revealed that there were six CCTV installed at the house which showed how the four men had gained entry,” he said in a statement.

Supt Aidil pointed out that the intruders then gagged, bound and blind-folded the couple before robbing them of their belongings.

However, both victims were unharmed during the incident.

The state police headquarters’ Serious Crime Unit (D9) and Forensic Unit are assisting with investigations at the scene.

The K9 unit has also been notified and investigations are ongoing to locate the suspects.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code.
