SIBU: Sibu Municipal Council (SMC) will continue its business as usual despite the political climate and changes.

SMC deputy chairman Bujang Zainuddin said SMC would continue to serve the people regardless of races and religions.

“The purpose of the function is to fulfill one of our responsibilities, that is, the community service and create bonding between council and the people.

“You can approach us at any time either in person or in writing and the ‘talikhidmat’ feedback system or direct your queries to our councillors,” he said at the SMC Chinese New Year open house held at Pulau Li Hua yesterday.

According to Zainuddin, any new year gathering is about family gathering and unity.

“We want a united Sibu and a close community.

“This land of Sibu near your house is where we live daily so we have a responsibility also to take care of it even if it is public open space or property,” he said.

Zainuddin said there were many illegal dumping cases around and he urged the public to report anyone doing that to SMC immediately.

“Together we create a cleaner, beautiful, and vibrant Sibu,” he said.
