WOMEN’S DAY 2020

KUCHING: Six women were given awards in appreciation of their outstanding contributions as game changers and catalyst of positive change among women in Sarawak.

The awards were presented by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg during this year’s state-level Women’s Day 2020 celebration held by State’s Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Ministry (KWKPK) at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching early today.

Receiving the highest accolade, the Datuk Patinggi Laila Taib award, was Batang Lupar MP Datuk Seri Rohani Abdul Karim.

The Women Leadership Award was received by former director-general of Radio Televisyen Malaysia (RTM) Datuk Norhayati Mohd Ismail.

The other award recipients were Kansar Karar (Chief Minister’s Women Entrepreneur Award), Mary Tay Siew Ceok (Chief Minister’s Women Social Workers Award), Dr Rashidah Bolhassan (Chief Minister’s Award for Special Digital Achievement) and Purple Lily Kuching Association (Outstanding NGO Organisation Award).

Also present at the event were the wife of Yang di-Pertua Negeri Toh Puan Ragad Kurdi Taib, the chief minister’s wife Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang and Federal Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture Datuk Seri Nancy Shukri.
