LAWAS: A local man made it out of his house in time to escape a fiery end after the wooden structure caught fire yesterday.
According to Lawas Fire Station chief, Zaki Hussin, the fire broke out at Kampung Masjid Baru, Jalan Merapok here at around 1.00pm while the man, who lives alone, was resting.
He said eight personnel with two fire engines were deployed to the scene, about 32 kilometres away, at 1.05pm.
He said the wooden house was destroyed in the incident and they were still investigating the cause of the fire and estimated losses.
