Among the drug addicts detained during 'Ops Tisak'.

BETONG: A total of 21 suspects were arrested here for alleged drug abuse. They were caught during a raid codenamed “Ops Tisak” that also catalysed in demolishing the area for being used as a drug den.

Chairman of Betong district One-Stop Committee (OSC), Sofhi Jebal said the operation was carried out based on the public complaints in collaboration with National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK), People Volunteer Corps (RELA) and Civil Defence Forces (APM) Betong.

“We managed to arrest 21 individuals, aged between 16 and 43 years old who are suspected to be drug addicts at the location which is also a suspected drug distribution point,” he said.

Sohfi who is also Betong district officer said he and his men were fully committed to combating the issue of drug abuse in the area.

“We always assist AADK in organising a successful drug awareness programme and curbing the issue of drug addiction among the Betong community in particular,” he said.

During the operation, the team also destroyed the alleged drug den.
