ENGKILILI: The Sarawak General Operations Force (GOF) last Monday (Oct 19). seized 650 cartons of contraband cigarettes kept in a house at Jelukong.
Sarawak GOF Brigade commander SAC Mancha Ata said a GOF 10th Battalion team conducted a ‘Ops Libas’ raid on the house around 1pm.
The team found the house locked when they arrived and waited for an hour before entering the premises by cutting the lock. In the house, they found 13 boxes containing 650 cartons of various contraband cigarettes.
“The total value of the cigrarettes including tax amounted to RM97,500,” said Mancha in a statement.
It was believed that the premises was used to store uncustomed goods.
Mancha said no arrests were made as no one showed up at the premises.
All items were confiscated under Section 135 (1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967 and handed over to the Lubok Antu Crime Investigation Division (CID) for further actions.
