KUCHING: Police have issued 24 compounds to errant individuals for failing to comply with the standard operating procedures (SOPs) in public places.

The Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) said police will continue to carry out operations to enforce the SOPs in public places and those who are found violating, will be issued a compound notice on the spot.

Kuching recorded the most compounds issued with 10, followed by five in Mukah, four in Sibu, two each in Miri and Padawan, and one in Betong.

“The police have also arrested four Indonesians in Kuching — three were arrested at a roadblock at E-Mart roundabout, Jalan Matang and one in Batu Kawa for failing to comply with the SOPs when entering premises.

“The Ministry of Local Government issued 163 verbal, written, and seizure warnings in areas under the supervision of various local councils,” the committee said.

On SOP compliance monitoring, patrol teams have inspected 1,710 premises throughout Sarawak.
