BAU: More than 15,000 residents in Bau District have registered for the Covid-19 vaccination, said Tasik Biru assemblyman Datuk Henry Harry Jinep.

He hoped that more residents would register for the free vaccine.

“Bau has a population of around 62,000. We aim for 40,000 residents here to register for the vaccination because they might choose to get the vaccine in Kuching or other department.

“Therefore, there’s no need to worry about the vaccination even if there are negative comments made about the vaccine on social media.

“The vaccine is very important for health of the people.

“Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has already taken the vaccine on Wednesday and Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg is expected to get the vaccine on Friday,” Henry told reporters at a face mask distribution programme here today.

He also mentioned that he would get the vaccine at Singai Health Clinic with Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh and Bau District officer Aniella Siam.

Today’s programme was organised by the Ministry of Housing and Local Government in collaboration with the Tasik Biru Service Centre, and around 500 boxes of face mask were distributed.

On Feb 21, Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas announced that the state government had opened registration for the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccination programme through the district offices and clinics.

Sarawakians can also register using the MySejahtera application.
