KUCHING: Hope Place presented food aid to a single elderly uncle recently.

The recipient, Dizon Aplin, 64, who lives on a small farm at Mile 13, does not have any immediate family or any fixed stable income.

Hope Place, in a statement today, said Dizon lived on a farm that belonged to his late mother’s relatives and was a caretaker there.

“His house has no water or electricity supply. Every day, he uses a kerosene lamp and cooks with firewood.

“His only source of water is a small pond beside his house although he also collects rainwater,” it added.

Dizon earns an income from doing odd jobs and will get about RM20 to RM30 per day.

Hope Place is helping Dizon with basic food aid and also supplies of drinking water.

For more information, Hope Place or Persatuan Kebajikan Harapan Kuching (PKHK) can be reached at 082-505987. Opening hours are from 8am to 5pm from Mondays until Fridays and 8am to 12pm on Saturdays.
