KOTA SAMARAHAN: Sarawak police launched its 12th “Ops Selamat”, in conjunction with Chinese New Year, at Farley Supermarket, Samarahan here yesterday.

“Police has identified 17 hot spots for accidents in the state, namely in Samarahan, Lubok Antu and Sarikei,” said State Deputy Commissioner Police, Datuk Pahlawan Mohd. Dzuraidi Ibrahim

“Therefore, police will run a total enforcement as to reduce the accident rate especially during the festive season,” he said during the launch of the operation which would be implemented until February 23 simultaneously throughout the state,” he added.

He also noted that police will cooperate with various agencies to minimise the number of road accidents.

“I would like to remind road users to plan their journey to ensure everyone’s safety,” he said.

At the same time, he also reminded the public to inform the nearest police stations and also their neighbours if their home would be unoccupied for a number of days so that patrols could be carried out.
