KUCHING: The second meeting of the first session of the 19th State Legislative Assembly (DUN) from May 17-26 might see several interesting bills, including the Anti-Party Hopping Bill (RUU), debated and deliberated.

Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah was, however, non-committal if the anti-party hopping issue would be debated on during next month’s sitting.

“If it is presented as a Bill, then it will be debated and deliberated. There are also some other interesting Bills that will be presented,” he told reporters yesterday (April 18).

“Abdul Karim, the Asajaya assemblyman, was reacting to Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department (Parliament and Law) Datuk Seri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar’s remarks that the Anti-Party Hopping Bill be first referred to state governments for their consent before being enforced at the federal level.

Saying the Bill was a good proposal, Abdul Karim said it would be given attention by the state government and the Premier.
