LUNDU: A total of 100 recipients of state welfare assistance received cash contributions of RM100 each along with a hamper worth of RM80 in conjunction with the upcoming Gawai Day celebration.

Tanjung Datu assemblyman Azizul Annuar Adenan, said the contributions were aimed at easing their financial burden and to add cheer to the celebration after a two year lapse due to COVID-19 restrictions.

“Apart from donating in conjunction with each festival, the Sarawak government also provides various incentives, like for the birth of babies, namely the Sarawak Endowment Fund (EFS), right up to RM3,000 in benefits to the families of citizens aged 60 and above who pass on,” he said.

He said this during the Sejambak Kasih Gawai 2022 held at the Kampung Sebat Dayak Lundu Hall on Saturday.

As for Lundu District, he said a total of 495 people received Gawai contributions with an allocation of RM49,500.

After the event, he also inspected the upgrading of the Kampung Sebat Baru Sports Field.
