Teens rescued after losing their way while jungle trekking

BINTULU: Six teenage boys, who lost their way while jungle trekking near Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan (SJK) Chung Hua No 2, Jalan Nyabau, were rescued by firefighters yesterday.

A spokesperson from the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said they received an emergency call for assistance from one of the teenagers around 6.55pm.

Firemen from Bintulu station were promptly despatched to the scene to carry out the rescue operation.

With daylight fading, the team advised the group to stay put and wait for rescuers to find them.

Based on the location shared by one of them, the team managed to locate the teenagers about 95 metres from the entrance.

All of them aged 16 and 17, who were unharmed, were later escorted out of the jungle trekking site before they were handed over to the police for further action.

The search operation wrapped up at 8.05pm after the teenagers were found safe.
