Mohamad Duri meets Putra Ila to discuss more fire fighting programmes

SARATOK: The new leadership of the Saratok Fire and Rescue Station (BBP) is advised to upgrade fire hydrants throughout the Kalaka state constituency area, in addition to drawing up more fire fighting programmes.

Assemblyman Kalaka Mohamad Duri described the transfer of Saratok native, Assistant Fire Chief (PPGB) Putra Ila to BBP Saratok to lead the station here as a betel returning to the hilt.

“Welcome back to Saratok. I think the people of Saratok are lucky and certainly they have high hopes for the new leadership in BBP Saratok.

“As a representative of the people, I emphasise several things, especially upgrading all fire hydrants in all areas in Kalaka constituency,” he said after a meeting with Putra Ila in Saratok.

At the same time, he explained, it helped to encourage the community to voluntarily become fire hydrant companions in their respective areas.

“The role of a fire hydrant friend is to ensure that the hydrant works and is not obstructed.

“Our objective is that the fire hydrant is always in good condition and can be used in the event of a fire. Next, report any fire hydrant damage due to vandalism to BBP,” he said.

Continuing from that, Mohamad hopes that Putra Ila can design more fire fighting programmes for the community in villages, longhouses and markets.

“Perhaps the fire safety programme can be improved…for example, it should be done more often or more diversely.

“At the same time design other appropriate programmes as fire safety education.

“Our focus is to help reduce the rate of fire with high community awareness,” he added.
