“I was informed that JKR Sarawak has submitted its proposal to the Federal Government to upgrade the road to R5 under the mid term review but has received no response so far.”
A SUM of RM2 million has been allocated to Sarikei District Council to raise the level of about 700 metres of Repok Road in flood prone areas of Sarikei.
Local Government Assistant Minister Datu Dr Penguang Manggil (pic) explained that the 8.3km Repok Road connected Sarikei Town to the Pan Borneo Highway.
“3.8km of the road, which stretches from the CTC traffic light junction to Sarikei Town, is under the jurisdiction of the Sarikei District Counci,” he said.
Dr Penguang was replying to Repok Assemblyman Dato Sri Huang Tiong Sii at the State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting yesterday.
He added the remaining 4.5km of the Repok Road, ie from the CTC Traffic light junction to Pan Borneo Highway, was under JKR Sarawak.
“I was informed that JKR Sarawak has submitted its proposal to the Federal Government to upgrade the road to R5 under the mid term review but has received no response so far.
“Perhaps the Ba’kelalan assemblyman who is the Federal Minister of Works can highlight on the status of the proposal,” Penguang said.
