SIBU: Some 40 participants comprising senior citizens and University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS) students participated in a ‘Green Concept’ activity organised by UCTS recently.

The senior citizens were from Sibu Enoch Senior Citizen Association.

The green activity involved producing items from recyclable materials.

Participants of the green activity were guided by an architecture lecturer from the School of Built Environment of University College of Technology Sarawak (UCTS), Wong Lin Sze.

Wong said the objective of the activity was to create awareness and share knowledge with the senior citizens on the importance of the green concept.

She added that the participants were also taught how to make small baskets using recyclable materials such as old newspapers.

“This activity also aims to introduce the idea of eco-friendly gifts which are made using recyclable materials only,” Wong said, adding that she managed to introduce two key principles throughout the activity which are ‘make something’ and ‘re-gift’.
