TANJUNG MANIS: An abandoned timber factory along Jalan Lidong, was partially engulfed by an afternoon fire yesterday (Feb 25).
Firefighters from Tanjung Manis station was promptly dispatched to the scene after receiving a distress call at around 1 pm.
Upon arrival, they confirmed that the premises was no longer in use and the flames had caused 60 per cent damages to the structure.
Also destroyed are a compressor machine, a storeroom, a main switch board room and some timber on the side of the factory wall.
The extinguishing deed was performed using water sourced from a nearby pond.
Once the flames were doused, the team conducted overhaul works to ensure that there was no risk of reignition.
The operation concluded at 2.06 pm. The cause of the fire and losses incurred is still under investigation.
