MIRI: Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg has been described as a beacon of determination and vision in his relentless pursuit of transforming Sarawak into a developed state.

“With unwavering dedication, he champions initiatives aimed at modernising infrastructure, fostering economic growth, and enhancing the quality of life for all Sarawakians,” said Miri Malay Charitable Trust Board chairman Datuk Abdillah Abdul Rahim.

Speaking at the Miri Malay Charitable Trust Board Hari Raya dinner at a leading hotel here last night (Apr 15), he said the Premier, through strategic planning and bold policies has spearheaded investments in key sectors such as agriculture, tourism and technology, unlocking the region’s potential and attracting both local and foreign investors.

Moreover, he said, Abang Johari prioritises human capital development, investing in education, healthcare, and skills training to empower the people of Sarawak to seize opportunities in the evolving global economy.

“His inclusive approach to governance ensures that every community, regardless of location or background, benefits from the state’s advancement; he has embarked on an ambitious journey to elevate the state to new heights, aiming to propel Sarawak into another level of development and prosperity.

“With unwavering determination and strategic vision, he has implemented a comprehensive roadmap for progress, addressing key areas such as infrastructure, economy, education, and sustainability.

“Through his visionary leadership and tireless dedication, the Premier is leading the state towards a future of prosperity, opportunity, and sustainable development, taking Sarawak to another level of success and prominence on the global stage,” he said.

Meanwhile, on the recent appointment of Tun Pehin Sri Dr Wan Junaidi Tuanku Jaafar as Sarawak’s Governor, Abdillah said it comes at a crucial moment for the state as it charts its course towards progress and development.

“With a wealth of experience and a proven track record of leadership, Tun is poised to play a crucial role in leading Sarawak forward.

“Having served in various capacities, both in the public and private sectors, he brings a diverse skill set and a deep understanding of Sarawak’s challenges and opportunities. His extensive experience in governance, coupled with his commitment to serve the people, makes him well-suited to navigate the complexities of steering Sarawak towards a brighter future,” Abdillah said.

The gathering last night was a vibrant and joyous affair, bringing together over 500 guests from all walks of life to celebrate the spirit of togetherness and unity.

During the event, the Miri Malay Charitable Trust Board received generous contributions from four corporate companies totalling RM105,000. The firms are Shin Yang Sdn Bhd (RM50,000), Empayar Setia Sdn Bhd (RM30,000), Kencana Defence and Aviation Sdn Bhd (RM15,000) and Samling Strategic Corporation (RM10,000).

The contributions serve as a testament to the spirit of corporate social responsibility and the commitment of businesses to support charitable initiatives within the community.
