SIMUNJAN: The state has approved RM3 million for the constructions of roads and RM850,000 for the villager ruai (open community space) project here.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said it is part of his duty as Premier and Gedong assemblyman to support the development of Simunjan.
“This is because the distance of Gedong and Simunjan is close by and it is important to help one another.
“There is great potential here in Simunjan, and the same for Gedong, Sadong Jaya and Sebuyau because we have a new way of doing things economically.
“Both Gedong and Simunjan are under the Batang Sadong parliamentary seat, it is part of my responsibility as the Premier to help the people,” he said.
He said this in his speech during the leader-with-the-people programme at Kampung Tanjung Pisang here today (Nov 7).
Earlier, Simunjan assemblyman Awla Dris in his speech had requested RM3 million to upgrade the roads of six villages in Simunjan.
Apart from that, he also requested the state government another RM800,000 for the construction of the RM1.1 million ruai in Kampung Ensengai Iban.
“I really hope the government will approve this request, as we really want to complete this abandoned ruai. It has been three years, the villagers here celebrated their Gawai and Christmas without a proper place,” Awla said.
