KUCHING: The two girls who were allegedly ‘abducted’ at Jalan FAC Matang have actually run away from home.

Deputy Police Commissioner Datuk Dev Kumar M.M. Sree (pic), when contacted, said as such, the police report that was lodged by a 20-year-old relative (sister) of the victims was false.

“The girl lodged a false report. Not kidnapping,” said Dev, adding that both victims were confirmed to have run away from their home by their sister.

He noted that the victims’ sister had tried to manipulate the actual incident by reporting that the victims had been abducted.

“Following investigation, the complainant admitted that the report lodged was false whereby, the duo had actually run away from home.

“Police are currently locating the victims’ whereabouts, and people are advised not to jump to conclusions and spread unverified news from authorities, especially from the police,” Dev said.

The so called ‘abduction’ of the 10-and 17-year-olds went viral on social media.
