Abim Sarawak shortlisted for National Youth Premier Awards

KUCHING: “Angkatan Belia Islam Malaysia” (Abim) Sarawak has been shortlisted for the National Youth Premier Awards 2019 under the Youth Organisation category.

The awards are presented annually by the Youth and Sports Ministry to outstanding individuals and youth organisations for their roles in promoting development and growth of youths in Malaysia.

Yesterday three panellists from the ministry were at the Abim Sarawak Secretariat office at Taman Sri Wangi to evaluate the organisation.

The panellists were Associate Prof Dr Ismi Arif Ismail, Siti Aisyah Yahya and Mohd Fadzli Hassan.

On hand to brief the panellists on Abim Sarawak was its secretary Mohammad Fazril Mohd Saleh.

In 2015, Abim was also shortlisted for the same award but the award went to Gerakan Belia (4B) Merlimau Pasir Branch from Melaka.

Among those present during the evaluation of Abim yesterday were deputy director of the state’s Youth and Sports Department Zaini Abdul Aziz, Youth and Sports Ministry’s deputy director of Character Leadership Branch Khairul Adri Datuk Rosli, Abim Sarawak deputy chairman Muhammad Rahmat Jamali.

One of the notable winners of the National Youth Premier Awards was Syed Saddiq Syed Abdul Rahman who won the Individual Male category in 2015. Presently he is Malaysia’s Youth and Sports Minister.
