KANOWIT: A road accident near Sungai Poi Bridge has resulted in the loss of one life and left another individual injured.
Kanowit Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) received a call regarding the incident at 5.42pm yesterday (Dec 29), prompting the dispatch of a team from its station to the scene.
Upon arrival, it was confirmed that the accident involved two vehicles—a Mitsubishi Triton and a Proton Ertiga.
The driver of the Proton Ertiga, identified as Jimmy Danggang, 51, succumbed to his injuries as confirmed by paramedics at the scene.
Meanwhile, the driver of the Mitsubishi Triton, Leonard Liam Ujong 48-year-old, sustained minor injuries to the knee.
Firefighters took immediate action to extricate the deceased from the vehicles while Leonard was subsequently handed over to the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) for further assistance.
After ensuring that the surrounding area was controlled and safe, the team returned to the station.
