SARIKEI: Various industries were affected by the Covid-19 pandemic and the implementation of movement control order (MCO).

However, Repok assemblyman Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, said we were now entering the recovery phase of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“Therefore, the community is advised to adapt to the new norms and comply with standard operating procedures (SOPs) to prevent the spread of Covid-19,” he said.

He said this while attending the 62nd anniversary ceremony and in conjunction with the mooncake festival celebration organised by Sarikei Coffee And Restaurant Traders’ Association at Sarikei Central Hall, here on Tuesday night (Oct 6).

The mooncake festival is one of the most celebrated Chinese festivals after the Chinese New Year, Huang pointed out.

It is not just about merry making or eating mooncakes, he said.

“It’s part and parcel of the Chinese cultural heritage inherited from our ancestors thousands of years ago.

“It signifies unity against the depression as family members gather in a harmonious atmosphere,” the people’s representative said.
