Agriculture dept comes up with anti-corruption plan

KUCHING: In line with the directive from the Sarawak Civil Service, the State Agriculture Department has developed its Organisational Anti-Corruption Plan (OACP) for 2021-2025.

The launching ceremony was attended by Assistant Agriculture Modernisation, Native Land and Regional Development Minister Datuk Roland Sagah Wee Inn, who represented minister Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, who is also Deputy Chief Minister, at the State Agriculture Department appreciation do at Imperial Hotel here on Monday (Dec 21).

The department set up its Integrity Unit in February this year, and director Dr Alvin Chai Lian Kuet said it was headed by a Grade 48 officer certified by the Chief Minister’s Department as Certified Integrity Officer (CeIO).

“In the plan, the department has formulated four objectives and 63 initiatives in order to curb 13 identified potential risks for corruption.

“This will help us in moving towards a more transparent service delivery and governance.”

Sagah commended the efforts, saying: “This is a good start as we must remember that all development funding is meant for the farmers.

“Thus, we, in service of the rakyat, need to be accountable for every single cent allocated to us for project implementation.

“I must warn all of you that I will not compromise with anything that involves questionable conduct of integrity.”
