KUCHING: Gedong folk can now heave a sigh of relief as they are set to enjoy Agro Bank automated teller machine (ATM) services by the end of the year.

Assistant International Trade and Industry, Industrial Terminal and Entrepreneur Development Minister Datuk Naroden Majais said the provision of banking services was in line with the state government’s policy of ensuring better access to banking services in rural areas.

He said a letter of approval was received from Agro Bank to provide an ATM machine in Gedong.

“A letter on this matter has been submitted to me by the Agro Bank Sarawak regional manager Abdul Halek Abdullah.

“On behalf of the residents of Gedong, I would like to thank Agro Bank for approving an ATM machine that will be placed at Anjung Usahawan Gedong in the near future.”

Naroden, who is also Gedong assemblyman, said the ATM machine would cater to about 7,000 residents as well as 4,000 workers in oil palm plantations.
