KUCHING: The land of hornbills, Sarawak, will be soaring when it meets its target of five million tourists this year through Sarawak Tourism Board’s (STB) Visit Sarawak Year campaign.
To achieve this goal, the AirAsia Sarawak Campaign Livery was launched yesterday at the Kuching International Airport by Chief Minister Datuk Patinggi Abang Johari Tun Openg.
“This partnership between the state government and AirAsia to use aircraft livery is perfect for promoting Sarawak’s diversity and uniqueness,” he said.
Also present at the event were state Tourism, Arts, Culture, Youth and Sports minister, Datuk Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah, and AirAsia board member, Datuk Aziz Bakar.
Aziz said the airline and state government will work together to capture opportunities and see where they can add new destinations in Sarawak.
He said Kuching is a vital hub for AirAsia flights to almost every major location in the state, mainland and neighbouring countries.
“AirAsia will identify a business model to boost Sarawak’s tourism industry as it works closely with STB,” he said. – Bernama
