KUCHING: Almost 90 per cent of the 153 buyers of Borneo Samariang Garden Phase 5 (B23) housing have received the keys to their new homes since November last year.

Interim Chairman of the Borneo Samariang Garden Phase 5 Community Association, Hafeez Morni, said that to date, about half of the homeowners have moved into their homes.

“I am grateful that the residents of Phase 5 have on average received the keys to their homes in perfect condition, thanks to our efforts starting from 2019,” he said during the Borneo Samariang Garden Phase 5 Community Thanksgiving Ceremony here Sunday (Jan 14).

He urged the Phase 5 housing buyers who still do not have their house keys to report to the committee.

“Any buyer who still has not got the key can refer us so that we can address and expedite the process together,” he said.

Hafeez added that his party will hold a special meeting to discuss the welfare, economy and safety of the residents in the Phase 5 housing.

Earlier, the thanksgiving ceremony was attended by around 100 residents from the housing area.

Sentoria Borneo Land Sdn Bhd, the then private developer of the Borneo Samariang Garden, appointed a new main contractor to complete Phase 5 of the housing project in November last year.

The project was then completed by the Sarawak Ggovernment, through its multi government agencies including the Ministry of Public Health, Housing and Local Government, Land and Survey Department, Sarawak Planning Authority, and Sarawak Attorney General Chamber, among others.

Prior to the takeover, a group of buyers appealed to the Democratic Action Party as their houses were long overdue for completion, and purchasers were forced to pay their loan installments while not having the benefit of staying in the houses.
