KANOWIT: The existence of unity in Sarawak reflects that Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) is able to work as one entity.

Machan assemblyman Allan Siden Gramong said one of the reasons the setting up of GPS was a success was because the four component parties comprising members of different races and religions understood and accepted one another.

“We all have a common goal and that is to safeguard Sarawak’s rights,” he said during the GPS Flag Rally at the Kanowit Waterfront here yesterday. He added that in Malaya there are conflicts among the people of different races and religions so how can Malayan parties lead Sarawak.

“That is why people must continue to support Sarawak-based parties because only Sarawakian leaders know the wants and needs of the people,” he pointed out.

“This is our land and our home. I’m sure you won’t want outsiders to come and disturb us.”

Meanwhile, Ngemah assemblyman Alexander Vincent urged the people of Kanowit to give their full support and ensure GPS continues to lead Sarawak.

“Just like the hornbill we must protect it and the same goes with safeguarding our rights,” he said.

He also reminded the people not to be easily fooled by the Pakatan Harapan (PH) government as they have their own agenda in disuniting Sarawakians.
