KUCHING: Hope Place has helped a 74-year-old man who lives alone at a shop lot along the Kuching Waterfront.

The non-governmental organization (NGO) immediately visited Yusof Reduan after receiving an urgent call requesting for food aid to be delivered to an elderly person

“Hope Place is helping Yusof with supplies of food aid once every three months,” it said.

It added that Yusof was renting a small room on the top floor of the shop.

“He has converted the tiny room to become his home with clothes hanging in one corner, a mattress next to a wall and a cooking area on the opposite side,” it said.

Hope Place added that Yusof had three adult children. One of them is living in Miri and another in West Malaysia.

“Although he still has a son in Kuching, Yusof has said that he is estranged from all his children and seldom communicates with them,” it said.
