MIRI: Senadin assemblyman Datuk Seri Lee Kim Shin is calling on the Unity Department to establish additional Neighbourhood Watch units (KRT) in his constituency to accommodate the rapidly growing population.

Currently, there are 34 KRT units in the constituency.

“As an elected representative for Senadin constituency for the past six terms, I have witnessed significant changes, including population growth and infrastructure development,” Lee said.

Considering the ongoing development and increasing population, Lee believed that more KRT units are necessary to empower the local community and help reduce crime rates.

“Over the past 30 years, Senadin has transformed from a jungle into a developing satellite town,” he said during the ‘Segulai Sejalai’ gathering of KRT Miri division at Naim Clubhouse Southlake Permyjaya on yesterday night.

To date, more than 18,000 residential, commercial, and industrial units have been constructed in the area.

During the event, Lee also distributed 23 food baskets to needy households.

Miri Division Unity officer Wilfred Ugap was also present.
