The authorities have been urged to look into the complaints of the residents such as the drainage infrastructure

KUCHING: Sarawak Democratic Action Party (DAP) has urged the authorities to step up their efforts to improve all the basic infrastructure at Hui Sing and Seng Goon Gardens near here.

“Last year during the Sarawak state election, I was made aware of the poor and unsafe walking track along the main drain at Lorong Hui Sing 6/2. We lodged complaints about the matter with the authorities back then and hoped the matter would be resolved,” said Michael Kong Feng Nian, special assistant to DAP’s chairman Chong Chieng Jen.

“During my random walk around the Seng Goon Garden area this afternoon, I decided to pay this area a visit to take a look at the outcome from our previous complaint. It was utterly disappointing to see that nothing had been done for the past four months!

“This is a walking track serving the houses along the monsoon drain, yet it is in a shameful condition. The floors are cracked, there are big holes in the ground waiting to swallow the legs of pedestrians and the safety railing are also no longer safe because it is falling together with the floor beneath it,” he said.
