SIBU: Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg reminded leaders in Sarawak to avoid quarrels and instead, be united regardless of background.

“The success achieved by Sarawak today is due to the political stability in the state and it needs to be maintained and preserved.

“In Sibu, for instance, we have Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) (for Bukit Assek and Pelawan constituencies) and Parti Pesaka Bumiputera Bersatu (PBB) (in Nangka constituency) working together.

“We also have Progressive Democratic Party (PDP) in Dudong constituency working together for the people of Sarawak,” he said.

He said this in his speech at Majlis Ramah Tamah Aidilfitri Bahagian Sibu at Tun Abdul Taib Mahmud Chancellor’s Hall, University of Technology Sarawak (UTS) here last night (Apr 13).

Abang Johari said Sarawak is now known for its stable economy and a clear direction on its pursuance.

“We remain humble and willing to share, for instance hydrogen; no other state (in Malaysia) has hydrogen; we are the only ones who have it.

“God willing, we will achieve this target because we will have a cascading dam,” he added.
