Awang Tengah conferred Brunei state decoration

KUCHING: Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan has been honoured with the Bintang Darjah Paduka Seri Laila Jasa Yang Amat Berjasa Darjah Pertama (PSLJ) by the government of Brunei Darussalam.

The PSLJ, First Class bestowed upon him carries the title of Dato Paduka Seri Laila Jasa.

His Majesty Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah presented the state decoration to Awang Tengah at the Istana Nurul Iman in Bandar Seri Begawan.

The state decoration was conferred in conjunction with the 77th birthday celebration of the Sultan of Brunei Darussalam yesterday.

Awang Tengah, who is also Minister of International Trade and Investment, expressed his appreciation for being bestowed with this prestigious state decoration, while emphasising that it symbolises the strong bond between Brunei and Malaysia, particularly Sarawak.

“The close relationship extends beyond the governmental level, encompassing family ties, community connections, and social interactions that are very close between our two nations.

“Furthermore, our trade relations are also remarkably strong and will continue to be strengthened from time to time covering across all sectors,” he said after receiving the state decoration.

Meanwhile, the PSLJ is one of Brunei’s highest state decorations, which is given on the basis of merits, especially contributions to the country.

Among those present was Awang Tengah’s wife, Datuk Dayang Morliah Datuk Awang Daud.
