Awang Tengah leads delegation to meet Brunei minister

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN (BRUNEI DARUSSALAM): Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan and a delegation from the Sarawak government paid a courtesy call on Brunei’s Second Minister of Foreign Affairs Datuk Seri Setia Awang Erywan Pehin Datu Pekema Jaya Mohd Yusof yesterday. 

According to a statement issued yesterday, the purpose of the visit was to discuss opportunities related to Brunei and Sarawak to increase socio-economic activities that could benefit both parties.

Among the matters discussed were related to the development of the Pan Borneo Highway and the North Coast Highway, facilitating cross-border movement and the Sarawak government’s readiness to help Brunei achieve 10 per cent renewable energy resources.

The meeting was a follow-up to a previous meeting between Sultan Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim last February, which also saw the participation of Sarawak government delegation.

Also joining the delegation were Deputy Minister of Transport Datuk Hasbi Habibollah; Deputy Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development (M-FICORD) Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail; State Secretary Datuk Amar Abu Bakar Marzuki; Lawas MP Datuk Henry Sum Agong and Batu Danau assemblyman Paulus Palu Ngumbang.

The delegation also included representatives from Ministry of International Trade, Industry and Investment (MINTRED) , Sarawak Economic Planning Unit (EPU), Public Works Department (PWD), Regional Corridor Development Authority (RECODA) and Sarawak Energy Berhad.
