KUCHING: Deputy Chief Minister Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan received a courtesy call from the Public Works Department (PWD) at the Ministry of Industrial Development on Sept 10.

The courtesy call is aimed to brief Awang Tengah on the implementation of the Sarawak Link Road (SLR) which is known as the Kuala Melinau-Limbang-Lawas Line.

“The federal government had approved an allocation of RM1.13 billion to implement Phase 1 which is to build a new 77km road from Lawas to Long Lopeng Junction.

“The duration of the project is 53 months and is expected to be completed in 2026,” said Meehan.

With that, Awang Tengah called for all parties to work closely so that the project can run smoothly and can be completed according to the quality and time set.

“I would also like to request that a bypass be provided in the uphill area as well as a rest area for the road users,” he said.

According to him, with the completion of the road, the road connecting Sarawak will be completed from Kuching district to Limbang/Lawas district and then to Sabah without the need to go through Brunei Darussalam.
