KOTA SAMARAHAN: Universiti Teknologi Mara (UiTM) Vice Chancellor Award recipients have just got the motivation to go further in their studies.

The award is not only the highest recognition for the students but also motivation for them to strive further for success.

In order to achieve the award, graduates must clinch the Dean’s Award with Grade Point Average (GPA) of 3.5 and above every semester.

During the recent 98th UiTM Sarawak Convocation Ceremony in Kota Samarahan, a total of 75 graduates received the Vice Chancellor award, 60 of them girls.

New Sarawak Tribune spoke with some of the recipients to discover the secrets to their success and their future plans.

Dorothy Murai

DOROTHY MURAI, 24, GRADUATE

I was very happy and thankful that I was able to finish my studies successfully, and to top it all for being among the recipients of the Vice-Chancellor award. I feel that in order to succeed, students should avoid completing their tasks or assignments at the very last minute. Most importantly when it requires lots of reading and memorising tons of theory. Our parents also play the role of being our biggest support system. My next plan is to continue my studies for a Masters’ degree.

Raymond Chechill Richard Macclif

RAYMOND CHECHILL RICHARD MACCLIF, 24, GRADUATE

This award gives me some sort of motivation to further my studies. But at the moment, my focus is finding some experience that is in line with my studies. I am also planning to get onto a different programme. I would like to challenge myself in order to get out of comfort zone, thus widen my knowledge and understanding.

Azzatul Natasha Ahmad

AZZATUL NATASHA AHMAD, 24, GRADUATE

I did not anticipate I would be among the recipients of the Vice Chancellor award. Because it is hard to maintain the 3.5 pointer every semester, considering that we are only conducting our study online. But I am very thankful I was given a chance to do my study physically during my third semester. Now, I am planning to pursue my Masters’ degree.

Abdul Hafiz Abdul Rahman

ABDUL HAFIZ ABDUL RAHMAN, 24, GRADUATE

At the early stage of my studies, I was not expecting to receive the award because that was not my target. Still I am very proud of what I have achieved every semester, which is 3.5 and above. Now, I am setting my sights on a higher programme which is a Masters’ degree and then Doctorate of Philosophy (PHD). My secret is I always wake up at 4am to do my revision, and never forget to pray. I believe picking the right time to study is the best method for us to understand the things we learned.
