KUCHING: Good news for mothers as baby spas in Sarawak are now allowed to operate but subjected to the standard operating procedures (SOPs) outlined by the Local Government and Housing Ministry.

This was among the latest sectors announced by Sarawak Disaster Management Committee (SDMC) chairman Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas that are allowed to open during the recovery movement control order (RMCO) period.

“While horse racing is also allowed to operate, it must comply with the SOPs outlined by the ministry,” he said in press conference on the daily Covid-19 update at the old State Legislative Assembly (DUN) building yesterday.

Furthermore, he said sports and recreational centres under the jurisdiction of Kuching South City Council (MBKS) are also allowed to operate in compliance with the SOP set by the ministry.

In the meantime, Uggah conveyed his appreciation to Sarawakians on the cooperation given to authorities and compliance with the SOPs to curb the spread of Covid-19.

“Therefore, I would like to call on all not to be complacent and always comply with the SOPs, adhere to the one-meter social distancing, and the use of face masks especially in crowded public areas,” said Uggah.
