KUCHING: A woman who mistakenly transferred RM30,500 to a third-party account instead of her other account has obtained a full refund from the commercial bank.

Democratic Action Party (DAP) Sarawak chairman Chong Chieng Jen said the woman had made the transaction on Feb 22.

“To the relief of the woman accountholder the bank on Mar 15 returned the full amount to her.

“She is thus thankful for my assistance and the commercial bank for responding positively to her request,” he said in a statement today (Mar 25).

Chong, who is Padungan assemblyman and Stampin MP said the woman accountholder of a commercial bank had mistakenly transferred a sum of RM30,500 to a third party’s account at another commercial bank, when she was attempting to transfer funds from her personal account.

“The recipient account’s number was only two digits different from the woman’s account number. It is thus a clear and obvious case of mistyping the number.

“Upon noticing that she had transferred the fund to a wrong account, she immediately notified both banks.
