Bau cops arrest man on suspicion of illegal lottery sales

BAU: Police arrested a man for allegedly selling lottery tickets illegally in Jalan Jambusan here Yesterday (July 10).

A raid was was carried out on a business premises around 5pm by a team from the Criminal Investigation Department.

Bau OCPD DSP Poge Nyaon, who confirmed the case, said also seized as evidence were a mobile phone, a SIM card and cash.

He said the suspect, 24, and the evidence were taken to the police station for further action.

The suspect, who did not have any prior, will be investigated under Section 4(1)(c) of the Common Gaming House Act 1953.

The Section provides for a fine of up to RM50,000 or a jail term of up to three years, if convicted.
