SIBU: Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah has announced that the fourth edition of the Sarawak Games (SUKSAR) might take place next year, with Betong serving as the host city.

“God willing, SUKSAR might be held next year, ensuring all four zones have the experience of organising SUKSAR.

“The first was in Kuching, the second in Miri, the third in Sibu, and the fourth in the Western Zone in Betong. After that, it will rotate again,” stated the Minister for Youth, Sport and Entrepreneur Development.

Abdul Karim was speaking at a press conference after the conclusion of SUKSAR III, where he represented Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, at the Sibu Indoor Stadium on Thursday (Jan 18).
Reflecting on SUKSAR III, he expressed overall satisfaction with the organisation while acknowledging that there might be flaws and weaknesses.

“There must be flaws and weaknesses in anything we do, and that is why we identify the weaknesses in the organisation of SUKSAR.

“They will also be involved in the organisation of SUKMA, allowing us to improve and avoid these weaknesses when hosting SUKMA later, not only in Sibu but also in other locations involving our nine regions.”

Highlighting the diverse participation, he mentioned that officials from various regions were involved in SUKSAR. “SUKSAR, to some extent, will provide insights into what they will experience when they become organisers for SUKMA later.”
