Biker dies, pillion rider injured


KAPIT: A motorcyclist died  in an accident involving three vehicles at Jalan Selirik  here today.

The State Fire and Rescue Department operations centre said in the 11.23am incident, the motorcycle ridden by the victim collided with two other vehicles heading in the opposite direction.

As a result, the molorcyclist  was confirmed dead at the scene by paramedics while his pillion rider was seriously injured.

“When firefighters arrived at the scene, they found two male victims lying on the road.

“One was semi-conscious and given initial treatment before being sent to Kapit Hospital for further treatment,” it said in a statement today (Feb 17).

The centre added that the drivers and passengers of the two vehicles, namely a Toyota Hilux and Perodua Bezza, did not suffer any injuries.

It said the identities of the two victims who could not be identified as no identity documents were found on them.

“The motorcyclist’s body was handed over to the police for further action and the cause of the accident is still under investigation,” it added.
